Conor McGregor gets booed at Dublin concert after announcing his attendance ahead of time

‘The Notorious’ has had a difficult relationship with his home country for some time despite his Irish pride.

Whether he’s posting about BKFC, trashing another fighter or inviting Sabrina Carpenter to the Black Forge Inn, Conor McGregor’s social media activity always turns heads.

It may have been four years since ‘The Mac’ last competed inside the Octagon but that hasn’t stopped him from keeping up appearances or generating headlines.

McGregor was even recently seen giving props to a teammate of his that he previously butted heads with via a political debate.

The same can’t be said for McGregor’s relationship with Paul Hughes which was evidence of the former UFC champ-champ not necessarily being aligned with his fellow countrymen.

Conor McGregor gets booed at Limp Bizkit show in Dublin after being namedropped on stage

During his rise through the UFC ranks to become the biggest star in the history of MMA, Conor McGregor’s relationship with the Irish fans was special.

Regardless of whether the Octagon travelled to the Emerald Isle or not, ‘The Tricolour’ could be seen scattered around the stands when ‘The Notorious’ was in action.

That relationship has not been quite the same love affair for quite some time as a recent video displayed.

With nu-metal icons Limp Bizkit bringing their ‘Loserville’ tour to the 3Arena in Dublin on March 11, McGregor announced via Instagram that he would be in attendance for the show.

When vocalist Fred Durst namedropped McGregor at the show, the reaction was a very different scene to the iconic welcome that he received inside the same building in 2014 for his main event clash with Diego Brandao.

Durst might’ve expected to get a big pop from the Dublin crowd but a lot has changed over the past decade.

Conor McGregor is still incredibly passionate about Ireland

Conor McGregor’s social media activity shows that his declining relationship with the Irish fans isn’t down to negligence.

‘The Notorious’ consistently posts on X in particular to talk about political and societal issues in the country but in turn, he’s likely turning more former fans away than getting them back on board.

This isn’t going to affect his worldwide status but it is a sign of where his stock is right now amongst some sections of fight fans.

The old McGregor who could win fans back over in an instant with a classic press conference or statement performance hasn’t been seen in some time
