Gunther put on a devastating display over Finn Bálor during WWE RAW (July 29, 2024) before the crucial match he will have against Damian Priest at SummerSlam: Cleveland.

Gunther had one last match before competing against Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Title facing his The Judgment Day partner, Finn Bálor , during WWE RAW (July 29, 2024).

Finn Bálor and Gunther faced each other one-on-one for the first time in history; this confrontation finally took place, since four years ago, they were scheduled to face each other at NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin, in 2020, but said event did not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gunther takes his opponent down as soon as the bell rings; Finn Bálor tries to do the same, but has no luck. Still, Finn manages to grab Gunther by the neck to hold him back for a moment. The Austrian misses his first chop, allowing Bálor to hit him a couple of times. Gunther asks him to give more of himself, but this allows the Irishman a reaction. Bálor is energetic after blocking his opponent’s intentions, so Gunther manages to take him down with a Big Foot.

“The King of the Ring” finally takes advantage of the actions and knocks down the Irishman with a “Back Suplex.” Gunther continues to wreak havoc on The Judgment Day member’s chest and then catches him with a “Boston Crab”; Finn manages to reach the bottom rope after much effort. The Austrian is in control and looks confident on WWE RAW ( July 29, 2024 ). The actions go to the top of the corner … Bálor tries to react, but Gunther hits him in the back at point-blank range. Gunther planned to knock down Bálor with a “Back Suplex”, but the Irishman reacts in mid-flight with a “Crossbody.”

Finn hits an Elbow Drop on his opponent’s neck to bury him against the canvas! Bálor tries to get some momentum, but is caught with a Sleeper. Although “The Prince” manages to react to escape the punishment, Gunther catches him again, this time with more force. While Gunther was subduing Bálor, the hold opens a little, which the Irishman takes advantage of to attack with a DDT. Finn tried to take advantage of the door to react, but Gunther stopped him dead with a Lariat.

A relentless exchange of chest blows in the center of the ring. Bálor breaks the rhythm and knocks Gunther down with a Sling Blade. Finn distances himself again in search of momentum, and although Gunther stops him, he manages to react so as not to fall into the Sleeper again. The Irishman hits Gunther head-on in the abdomen with a Stomp and repeats the attack on his back. Now, a Drop Kick on Gunther in the corner… but the Austrian avoids a Coupe de Grace. Gunther catches Finn Bálor again with a Sleeper! Gunther’s Powerbomb on Finn; two count!

Gunther’s hold on Finn is brutal, like an animal attacking its prey without giving it a chance to let go. However, Bálor stays awake and tries to escape from the “Sleeper.” Gunther reinforces the punishment, now putting all his weight on the Irishman until he sends him to sleep. The referee stops the match! Gunther turns off the lights on Finn Bálor and obtains an important victory before WWE SummerSlam 2024! After the match, Gunther continued to attack until Damian Priest appeared to stop him.
