Solo Sikoa finally earned a chance at Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. The ‘new’ Tribal Chief holds a pinfall victory over The American Nightmare. He will look to recreate what happened at Money in the Bank and pin Rhodes again to become the new WWE Champion at The Biggest Party of The Summer. But will Rhodes even be able to defeat Sikoa and retain his championship?
Apart from that, there is also a lot of speculation regarding the potential return of Roman Reigns. There are some rumors that The Rock has also finished his filming schedule and could be set to make his return. Let’s take a look at three directions for Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam:
#3. Cody Rhodes relinquishes his WWE Title because of injury
The Bloodline has been after Cody Rhodes and looks to inflict some serious damage. They have already taken out his support system in Kevin Owens and Randy Orton by brutally attacking the two former World Champions. In a major twist, the faction could find Rhodes backstage at SummerSlam and viciously attack him.
As a result, Rhodes could suffer a serious injury. He could then come out and announce that he will relinquish the championship as he doesn’t want to be a champion who doesn’t defend his title. The Bloodline could demand that one of them be crowned the new Undisputed Champion.
#2. The Rock to return and be crowned the new WWE Champion
As noted, rumors have suggested that The Brahma Bull’s schedule has freed up and he could be returning at SummerSlam. After Rhodes relinquishes his title, The Rock could come out and explain that he was the one who instructed The Bloodline to take The American Nightmare out.
Rhodes and The Rock have had bad blood ever since the latter returned ahead of WrestleMania 40. The Final Boss could bring SmackDown GM Nick Aldis into the ring and instruct him to announce that The Rock will be crowned the new WWE Champion. The Rock could play the ‘boss’ card as he is technically everyone’s boss in the company being a part of TKO’s Board of Directors.
#1. Roman Reigns returns and helps Cody Rhodes retain his championship
While The Rock returning could spell bad news for The American Nightmare, if his old rival Roman Reigns returned then it could benefit him. Despite Reigns and Rhodes being enemies, The Tribal Chief will most likely be gunning for Solo Sikoa and the New Bloodline for attacking Paul Heyman.
During a referee bump in the Sikoa vs. Rhodes match, The Bloodline could target Cody Rhodes. With his friends Kevin Owens and Randy Orton out of action, there will be nobody to help Cody. Then, the unthinkable could happen and Roman Reigns could finally make his return and clear out The Bloodline, giving Rhodes the opportunity to hit the Cross Rhodes on Sikoa and retain his WWE Title.
