The referee takes over to start the action. Kevin Owens – wearing the masked man’s Hall of Fame shirt – quickly knocks down his opponent, but Rey Mysterio doesn’t allow himself to stay on the canvas. San Diego applauds the hometown hero before continuing the action. KO pushes himself from side to side on the ropes, and ends up tackling Rey to send him flying out of the ring. Upon his return to the ring, Mysterio manages to dizzy the Canadian for a moment, but Owens again uses the physical difference to his advantage to send him abruptly to the canvas and then attack with a “Senton.” Rey is exhausted, but shows signs of life by attacking KO at ringside with a “Slide Splash.”

“The real Champion” is furious, so he increases the punishment on his rival. KO celebrates with the legend of the Women’s Division, Victoria , who is in the front row, and then brings Rey in front of his daughter, Aalyah Mysterio , to attack him against the barricade. Mysterio manages to fight back to not allow himself to be humiliated, but he only manages to counter KO’s fury on his return to the ring, connecting a “Tornado DDT”; he counts to two. The masked man slowly returns to the fight during WWE SmackDown ( January 17, 2025 ). The actions are going through the roof… KO manages to knock down his rival, so he launches himself with a “Frog Splash”; he counts to two.

Rey Mysterio surprises Kevin Owens with a “Destroyer,” but can’t claim victory! The Hall of Famer misses the flight… AND GETS A “STUNNER”; COUNTS TO TWO! KO manages to connect a finisher, but “The Master 619” doesn’t let himself go down that easily in San Diego. Owens gains height again… but is greeted with high knees when he launches himself with a “Swanton Bomb.” “619″ FROM REY ON KO! Owens, in his eagerness to stay standing, intentionally pushes the referee to move the ropes for Rey to make him fall from the corner. Kevin Owens takes advantage of the moment and finishes Rey Mysterio with a “Pop-up Powerbomb.” Kevin Owens has the victory over Rey Mysterio!

After the match, Kevin Owens shakes Rey Mysterio’s hand in respect, but attacks him for a Piledriver… CODY RHODES APPEARS TO SAVE REY MYSTERIO! The Undisputed WWE Champion furiously attacks Kevin Owens. The Canadian manages to escape into the crowd with the Winged Eagle Championship in his possession and raises it high in front of Cody Rhodes, who is in the ring.
