After years of rumors and development, the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid movie is finally moving forward, with Oscar Isaac confirmed to star as Solid Snake. Based on Hideo Kojima’s legendary video game series, the film will adapt the story of the highly skilled soldier, Solid Snake, who is tasked with infiltrating enemy strongholds to stop nuclear threats, battling mercenaries and high-tech enemies along the way. The project, which has been in the works for years, is being helmed by Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who has long been an advocate for staying true to the video game’s complex narrative and action-packed sequences. Vogt-Roberts, a self-proclaimed fan of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, stated, “We are bringing the world of espionage, philosophy, and military intrigue to life in a way that’s never been done before.” Oscar Isaac, known for his roles in Star Wars and Dune, was officially cast as Solid Snake after expressing interest in the role several years ago. Isaac has stated in interviews that he’s been a fan of the franchise since childhood and is excited to portray one of gaming’s most iconic characters. “Snake is such a complex, layered character, and bringing him to life in a way that honors the fans and stays true to Kojima’s vision is a huge responsibility,” Isaac shared.
