Russell Wilson responds to Ciara after learning about the Steelers’ fate.

Russell Wilson’s NFL future hangs in the balance with doors closed by the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Las Vegas Raiders after a dismal end to the season.

Russell Wilson sent a sweet message to his wife, Ciara, as the quarterback’s seemingly inevitable departure from the Pittsburgh Steelers looms.

Wilson and the Steelers endured a dismal end to the season, losing five of their final seven regular season games before suffering a first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens last month.

The one-time Super Bowl champion’s one-year contract with the Steelers comes to an end next month, and there is little expectation that Wilson will be on the roster beyond that after a woeful end to the season for him and the team.

In the meantime, the 36-year-old spent last week at his 10th Pro Bowl after being invited as a replacement for the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen.

It was a special moment for the Wilson family, with Ciara and the couple’s two daughters wearing jerseys with name and his No. 3 on the back in support of him during the flag football game in Las Vegas.

“Team 3! Pro Bowl Fun. Year 10,” Ciara wrote on X with a series of heart emojis. Former Seattle Seahawks star Wilson replied: “The best times. Grateful. God is amazing.”

Numerous reports this week have suggested Wilson’s time with the Steelers is over. FOX insider Jay Glazer, known to be a close friend of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, ruled out the prospect of Wilson resigning with the Steelers or reuniting with his former head coach Pete Carroll at the Las Vegas Raiders.

And Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports indicated Wilson will struggle to find work in 2025 as a starting quarterback. She said: “In talking to coaches and general managers around the league, there’s just not a market for his services right now.”
