A double-loss to Dustin Poirier looked like it ended his UFC career with the second defeat seeing him suffer a sickening leg break.
It has been a long road to recovery but Notorious could be ready to make his return – hinting at a comeback to the Octagon at UFC 300.
In typical cryptic fashion, he posted on social media: “McGregor on 300 seals the deal.”
McGregor had been tipped to face rival Michael Chandler after the pair were rival coaches on The Ultimate Fighter.
However, there is every chance that they could finally meet at UFC 300 in what would be an mouthwatering contest.
UFC 300 is set to go ahead in April this year and promises to be one of the biggest events in MMA history.
UFC chief Dana White has told fans that he will name an outrageous lineup and that has had rumours swirling over McGregor’s return.
“You guys can’t handle the main event,” White said earlier this month.

“We’re working on a couple of different options. Trust me, the UFC 300 main event is going to be crazy.
“When I’m ready to give you the main event, you’ll get the main event.
“We have a couple of options for the main event. We’re still playing with it, still playing with it.
“When it’s time, I will give it to you. 300 is gonna be the sickest card from top to bottom.
“The first fight of the night you guys are gonna go, ‘What the f***?’
“You cannot not be watching ESPN the first fight of the night for 300.”
UFC 300 currently already has nine fights confirmed with some big names included.
Holly Holm, Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje are some of the supporting cast named to take part in the event.
And fan favourite Jim Miller, who fought at UFC 100 and UFC 200, will be in action when he takes on Bobby Green.
