Real Madrid to offer one-year renewals to three stars including veteran midfielder

As the end of the season closes in, Real Madrid must once again begin the saga of contract renewals.

Last summer, Los Blancos were faced with a long list of players who were set to be free agents and while they managed to convince most to stay, some like Karim Benzema opted to leave.

Come June, Real Madrid will be faced with the same task.

One year extensions

As revealed by MARCA, Lucas Vazquez, Nacho Fernandez, and Luka Modric all end their contracts with Real Madrid this summer and are seen as the big fish.

The Spanish outlet reveals that Los Blancos will provide a one-year renewal proposal to all three aforementioned players.

The decision of whether to stay for another season or not will lie with the players, and a longer contract will not be offered.

Nacho, the club captain, has been informed of Real Madrid’s interest in renewing his deal. He has not yet made a final decision, and there will be no problem if he wants to continue leading the club for one more year.

Modric and Vazquez, meanwhile, have still received no communication about the renewal. Movements are expected in the coming months, for Carlo Ancelotti still sees them to be essential to the team’s project.

As revealed earlier today, Saudi Arabia are interested in signing all three aforementioned Real Madrid stars this summer.

Considering their contractual situation, they are on the radar of several clubs in the Middle East-based league.

Real Madrid cannot match the offers from Saudi and will not attempt the bridge the gap. The players’ continuity will completely depend on their desire to don the prestigious shirt and their willingness to sacrifice monetary luxury.

Modric, despite receiving a renewal offer, could well opt to leave Real Madrid in the summer owing to his reduced prominence under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Croatian has refused the Saudi option before and could do the same as a return to Croatia is growing as an option.

Vazquez and Nacho, meanwhile, have real chances of staying at Real Madrid. In the latter’s case, the decision could depend on Real Madrid’s decision to sign a new young centre-back.
