Ariana Grande reveals “dark and deranged” childhood, with mom suspecting serial killer tendencies.

Ariana Grande is the epitome of far-out glamour, but she wasn’t such a charming child as she revealed in the latest issue of Billboard magazine.

The 21-year-old singer exposed herself as a ‘very weird little girl’ and quipped, jokingly one hopes, that her own mother, Joan, thought she might turn into ‘a serial killer’ one day.

Back then, Ariana’s idols included Freddy Krueger, the scary antagonist of A Nightmare On Elm Street who slashed his victims to death with a bladed glove, and a 25-foot-long great white shark otherwise known as Jaws.

Far-out glamour: Ariana Grande donned a 1960s-style white dress with cut-out details for the latest issue of Billboard in which she described her childhood as ‘dark and deranged’

The petite, 5 ft star, who grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, said her past bordered on the ‘dark and deranged.’

‘There was a stage, when I was three or four, where my mom thought I might grow up to be a serial killer,’ Ariana told Billboard.

She continued: ‘I always wanted to have skeleton face paint on or be wearing a Freddy Krueger mask, and I would carry a hockey stick around. I was like a mini-Helena Bonham Carter.’

Didn’t turn out so bad: The 21-year-old singer told the magazine that she had been a ‘very weird little girl’ and that her mom, Joan, pictured with her last year, thought she’d ‘grow up to be a serial killer’

Pom-pom earrings, white eye shadow and heavy liner, and a half-up, half-down hairstyle made up the rest of the ensemble.
