‘That really shocked me!’Margot Robbie discovers š‘ eš‘„ual harassment through Bombshell script.

She plays a young Fox News producer in the critically acclaimed film Bombshell.

And while the movie is centred on š‘ eš‘„ual harassment in the workplace,Ā Margot Robbie, 29, revealed she didn’t fully realise what it was until reading the script.

‘One of the lines that shocked me when I first read the script was that š‘ eš‘„ual harassment includes any unwelcome š‘ eš‘„ual advances,’ she told theĀ Herald SunĀ on Saturday.

The Gold Coast born star admitted: ‘I didnā€™t know what š‘ eš‘„ual harassment was’, despite the Time’s Up and #MeToo being at its height only a few years ago.

She explained: ‘I always thought it required physical contact for it to be considered illegal or wrong. That really shocked me.’

Margot said recognising that such harassment did not have to be physical, but also be verbal, prompted her to join the film.

Margot playsĀ Kayla Pospisil, a fictional character who is a creation of several women’s real-life accounts of working at Fox News.

She explained that she felt a great sense of responsibility to the character who represented all of their stories.

The Oscar-nominated actress revealed that Kayla’s scenes in the office of FOX News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, played by John Lithgow, were some of the most uncomfortable to film.

Bombshell is receiving plenty of Oscar buzz for Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie’s performance, as well asĀ Best Picture.

Margot stars alongside fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman, who plays Gretchen Carlson, and Charlize Theron, who portrays former news anchor Megyn Kelly.

Bombshell will screen in Australian cinemas from January 16 2020
