But he won’t be the only Irishman on the card thanks to the addition of countryman and surging welterweight Ian Machado Garry.

The undefeated welterweight will throw down with Brit sensation Michael ‘Venom’ Page in the featured bout of the evening.

UFC bigwig Dana White announced the addition of the monster fight on Instagram, saying: “What’s up, guys?

“A couple of announcements. UFC 303, McGregor vs Chandler, I’m sure you saw it yesterday it was announced that Jamahal versus Carlos Ulberg is the co-main event.

“We are also adding undefeated 14-0 welterweight Ian Garry. He is going to be taking on the No.13-ranked Michael ‘Venom’ Page.

“This fight is already the largest gate in UFC history. And it is International Fight Week.

“So if you haven’t got your tickets, you better get them now.”

Fight fans around the world were blown away by the booking of the bout, with one saying: “What an incredible fight.”

Another said: “What an exciting match up, let’s go MVP.”

And another said: “UFC 303 went from a 3/10 to 8/10 in the span of days.”

One remarked: “This is going to be a barn burner.”

Another chimed in: “Unreal fight. Two absolutely world-class strikers, with similar styles.

“Great marketing by the UFC to get Garry on the McGregor card.

“It won’t do MVP any harm either! I’m absolutely pumped for this.”

Former Bellator welterweight Page will present Garry with the stiffest test of his mixed martial arts career.

Page, 37, made his long-awaited UFC debut in March against veteran Kevin Holland, who he dominated for three rounds on his way to earning a decision victory.

Garry, meanwhile, has gone a perfect 7-0 in the promotion since making his debut in November 2021.
