Conor McGregor’s son records MMA achievement in front of UFC cameras as proud dad looks on

A proud Conor McGregor looked on as his eldest son got the first stripe on his jiu jitsu belt in Dublin this week. The UFC star was in attendance as Conor Jr was given the stripe at John Kavanagh’s Straight Blast Gym.

McGregor also revealed that the UFC had cameras at the gym to capture the moment, with the Notorious joking they were on a “scouting mission”. The 35-year-old returns to the Octagon for the first time in almost three years next month when he faces Michael Chandler in Las Vegas.

“My son @conormcgregorjr getting the first stripe on his jiu jitsu belt at @sbgireland and the @ufc are already here with their team and big cameras on a scouting mission haha #ProudDad,” McGregor wrote on Instagram as he shared a video of his son getting his first stripe.

The former two-weight UFC champion’s long-time coach Kavanagh was among the many people who commented on the post. He said: “What a moment. From me dealing with a teenager to that man bringing his son for his first stripe. Amazing.”

McGregor’s sister Erin added: “Wohooo love it well done buddy x. Aunty Erin loves you.”

The Dublin fighter is set to come face-to-face with Chandler at the 3Arena in Dublin on Monday for a press conference, with UFC President Dana White also set to be in attendance. Tickets for the event were snapped up within five minutes after being made available to fans on Wednesday morning.

McGregor returns to the 3Arena, where he also came head-to-head at a press event with Jose Aldo in 2015. The Notorious only fought at the Dublin venue once, recording a first round stoppage win over Diego Brandao in 2013.
