‘Barbie’ meets ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’
Margot Robbie isn’t quitting her Barbie style just yet. With award season in full swing, and with multiple nominations for the highly-praised film under her belt, the actress is still paying homage to the toy doll with her all-pink wardrobe.
But at the 2024 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, where Margot received the Trailblazer Award, she added a touch of punk to Barbie’s ultra-feminine style. For the occasion, Robbie hit the red carpet wearing a recreation of Vivienne Westwood’s “Pirate Bride” dress from the 1998 archives. Despite the dress being custom, not much changed from the original design, which included a corseted bodice, off-the-shoulder straps, and silver and pink Swarovski crystals covering the entirety of its fabric.
Rather than accessorize with an eye patch and headscarf as the model did on the runway, Robbie, instead, opted for delicate diamond jewelry and wore her blonde hair down in brushed-out waves with a middle part. Meanwhile, shimmery lids, rosy cheeks, and a swipe of pink lipstick rounded out her glam.
Margot’s latest red carpet appearance comes days after her first major post-Barbie project was announced. Earlier this week, it was reported that the Australian actress will star alongside Colin Farrell in the new film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey from director Kogonada. While major plot details haven’t been revealed, the movie is being described as “an imaginative tale of two strangers and the unbelievable journey that connects them,” according to Variety.
