Dad of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes Makes Major Personal Declaration

Aweek before Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, his father, Pat Mahomes Sr., was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Tyler, Texas.

After a $10,000 surety bond was listed, Mahomes Sr. was released from jail, and he made it Allegiant Stadium to watch his son win his third Super Bowl MVP Award. However, concern lingered over Mahomes’ father, as his latest arrest marked his sixth DWI, per legal records obtained by US Weekly.

However, the former Major League Baseball player is ready to make a change, and shared big personal news on Instagram.

Mahomes Sr. posted, “I would like to Thank my God wife family and friends for 6 months on the sunny side of the road. I know it’s been hard getting to know sober Pat but it’s well worth it. Trisha Mahomes thanks for all you do.”

Mahomes Sr., shares two sons Patrick, 28, and Jackson, 24, with the quarterback’s mother, Randi Mahomes. However, the couple divorced in 2006. He also has a daughter, Zoe, 10, from another relationship. Three years ago he married Trisha, who has two children.

Friends and family were thrilled to learn Mahomes Sr. was sober. NFL agent Chris Cabott commented, “Love you and proud of you, Pat.” Former MLB pitcher LaTroy Hawkins wrote, “My brother!! All the way up from here! Happy for you and incredibly proud of you! 👊🏾🦾👊🏾.”A Chiefs fan accounted added, “Well done Pat Sr! Keep going 👏.”

Despite his personal struggles, Mahomes Sr. never wavered as his son’s No. 1 fan. After the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game, the 53-year-old knew Mahomes and the Chiefs would win it all.

“I’m very excited, man,” he told reporters. “Going back to another Super Bowl is more than anybody could even imagine.” And he predicted even more success for Mahomes and the Chiefs. “We’re going for three, and then we’re going for four, five, six, seven, eight, nine!,” Mahomes Sr. said.
