Hailey Bieber shocked fans when she announced that she was six months pregnant with her and her husband Justin Bieber‘s first child in May.
And now the Rhode skincare founder, 27, is sharing how she was able to keep it a secret for so long.
She told W magazine this week that her lack of a baby bump was a big help.
‘I was honestly able to keep it quiet because I stayed small for a long time,’ Hailey explained.
‘I didn’t have a belly, really, until I was six months pregnant, which was when I announced it. I was able to wear big jackets and stuff.’
Hailey continued: ‘I probably could have hid it until the end. But I didn’t enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy outwardly.’

Before going public, the wife of Justin Bieber felt she was ‘hiding this big secret, and it didn’t feel good.
‘I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life.’
Hailey broke the pregnancy news on May 9, 2024 with an Instagram video of her and Justin renewing their wedding vows in Hawaii – with her bridal gown hugging her burgeoning belly.
The couple — who will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary in September — have yet to reveal the 𝑠e𝑥 of their unborn baby.
Hailey has kept fans clued in on her pregnancy by sharing photos of her baby bump to social media.
But the brunette beauty dished on her cravings, morning sickness and how she’s avoided turning to the internet for pregnancy advice to W magazine.
Hailey explained that she’s on a protein-packed pregnancy diet that includes ‘lots of eggs, chicken, and steak.’
But that she also enjoys premade items from the Los Angeles health food store Erewhon – a favorite of celebrities – and the trendy beverage kombucha.

Pizza is also on the menu.
‘I just listen to whatever the baby wants. If the baby wants pizza one day, we’re doing pizza,’ Hailey said.
The influencer has also allowed herself the ‘huge luxury’ of hiring a private chef for the evenings.
The daughter of Stephen Baldwin shared that she suffered from acute morning sickness during her first trimester, adding: ‘I don’t know why they call it that because it lasts all day long; we need to change the name.’
As her family expands, Hailey divulged that she is also trying to capitalize on the brief time that she and Justin have left one-on-one.
The duo wed back in 2018 and will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary in September.
‘In the beginning [of pregnancy], it was super emotional for me. Like: ‘I love this human so much. How can I possibly bring someone else into this?’ I’m trying to soak in these days of it being Justin and me, just the two of us,’ she said.
She also has to be careful about going online, as ‘the Internet is a scary place for a pregnant woman’ what with all the anecdotes floating around social media.
‘You see so many stories – traumatic birth stories, traumatic experiences – and I know that that’s very real. But I don’t want to scare myself,’ she said.

Hailey divulged that she has grown somewhat distant from her Baldwin family, who have been plunged into controversy repeatedly in recent years.
Her elder sister Alaia, 31, was arrested for assault in February after allegedly throwing a used tampon at a bartender while drunk.
Meanwhile, the manslaughter charges against Alec were sensationally dropped earlier this month, in a case stemming from the Rust shooting.
On the set of his western Rust in 2021, Alec accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a gun being used as a prop.
Stephen has also faced intense scrutiny over the years, and in 2018 staunchly denied claims that he had an extramarital affair with a masseuse.
‘I’m not super close with my family at this point in my life because I feel like I’m very independent. I’m my own individual now, and I’ve built my own family,’ said Hailey.
‘But when I look back on my childhood and how I grew up, I have very fond, beautiful memories,’ added Hailey, whose uncles Daniel and Billy are also actors.
‘I had a fairly normal childhood. Obviously, I come from the family that I come from, and I always recognized that that was different.’
Now, as a celebrity herself, Hailey has taken plenty of slings and arrows from online trolls – especially diehard fans of Justin’s teenage sweetheart Selena Gomez.

While she has attempted to ‘compartmentalize’ the brickbats she receives, Hailey finds it difficult to suppress her feelings about the issue entirely.
‘People have made me feel so bad about my relationship since day one. ‘Oh, they’re falling apart. They hate each other. They’re getting divorced.’ It’s like people don’t want to believe that we’re happy,’ said Hailey.
‘I used to try to act like it hurts less and less. I’ve tried to think that you get used to it at a certain point, that this is what’s going to be said and this is how people are going to be. But I realize that it doesn’t actually ever hurt any less.’
