Joe Rogan shares hilarious story of being asked about Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz rematch at airport: “Weirdest moment of my life”

Wherever Joe Rogan goes, he will usually get recognized for either his world famous podcast or his role on UFC broadcasts. His role in the latter is responsible for one of the “weirdest moments” of his life.

Rogan detailed the experience during his ‘Burn the Boots’ stand-up special on Netflix released on Aug. 3. The 56-year-old recalled going through airport security while under the influence of marijuana as the security officer was talking to him about the UFC.

Rogan said:

“They bring over a man who starts touching me while he’s asking me UFC questions. It’s one of the weirdest moments of my life ’cause first of all, I’m ticklish, and I’m tryna act normal. I’m standing here, and this dude’s on his knees going, ‘You think Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz ever going to fight again?'”

‘Burn the Boats’ was Rogan’s third stand-up special released on Netflix and his first since 2018. Upon its release, the 67-minute video reached No. 1 on the site’s most watched list. One week after the event was live-streamed, it is still in the top five.

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz’s fight history

While ill-timed, the question posed to Joe Rogan at the airport is one often asked by UFC fans over the past decade. At the peak of his popularity, Conor McGregor engaged in one of the most iconic rivalries in UFC history when he accepted a fight with Nate Diaz on short notice at UFC 196.

Though Diaz was a weight class above McGregor, the Irishman’s popularity and featherweight dominance led to him being the favorite. Diaz wound up winning the fight by second-round submission in what is still one of the most memorable moments in UFC history.

Five months later, Conor McGregor got his revenge at UFC 202 in a highly anticipated rematch with a unanimous decision victory. With their 1-1 record, the trilogy fight was considered the most lucrative fight in the industry at the time but eight years later in 2024, McGregor and Diaz have yet to put an end to their rivalry.
