‘Tell the referee’ – Jake Paul warned Mike Tyson could break fight rule by legend’s ex-rival

Jake Paul has been urged to alert the referee quickly if Mike Tyson spits out his gum shield.

The YouTube star will duel the famous heavyweight legend in a surprise professional clash on November 15.

Tyson hasn’t fought competitively since losing to Kevin McBride in 2008, where he retired on his stool against the Irish journeyman.

And McBride has insisted Tyson could be capable of any wild antics in his comeback, given he famously bit off a portion of Evander Holyfield’s ear in June 1997.

He said: “Keep you’re f***ing hands up and watch that he doesn’t spit out his mouthpiece and if he does, tell the ref.

“I’d warn Jake Paul to make sure Mike doesn’t spit his mouthpiece out because if he does you never know what’s going to happen.

“You don’t know what Mike Tyson is going to do, he’s a fearsome man.

“It takes balls to get in the ring with Tyson even in his fifties, whether you’re a YouTuber or a fighter, it takes big balls, Tyson is no joke.”

Tyson was famously disqualified for the horrifying incident, with his boxing licence revoked and he was forced to pay a $3 million fine.

He later regained his licence, but retired with the ‘fear factor’ thanks to his ferociously aggressive style.

‘Iron Mike’ is now 58 and has huge respect for Paul, so it is unlikely he will go beyond the means of traditional fight rules.

But Paul has already joked it could be a possibility, and recreated that famous moment in a viral video.

The legend has it all to lose, given he is not in prime physical condition and is far from his epic boxing heyday.

Fans have become concerned for the legend on the back of recent training footage, that he has bitten off more than he can chew.

And Paul has insisted he will not give Tyson the opportunity to break the rules, and will knock out the veteran despite concerns.

He said: “He can’t bite my ear off if I knock his teeth out. I’m the faster man. He’s the much stronger man, but I’m fresh.

He’s experienced. I’m smart but in the ring he may be smarter, so it’s a really interesting match-up.’’

“It’s going to be tough. He looks like a beast. He’s a dog. He’s ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

“But I believe I have what it takes to beat him and I know this is the toughest test of my life and it’s an honour to be in there with Mike.

“But at the end of the day I’m going to be the one who gets my hand raised.’’
