Manchester United Set to Unveil £51.5 Million Double Signing

De Ligt and Mazraoui

Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are scheduled to undergo medicals at Manchester United’s training complex today.

United have agreed a fee of £38.6million plus £4.3m in add-ons for centre back De Ligt, with the payment due to be spread over three years. United have also struck a deal to sign right back Mazraoui for an initial £12.9m.

Club sources say the deals are progressing, with both players also requiring visas.

De Ligt, 24, worked with United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax and Mazraoui, 26, also played under the Dutchman at the Amsterdam club.

Both players are represented by Rafaela Pimenta, who took over their representation after Mino Raiola passed away in 2022. United hosted Pimenta at their Carrington training complex last year.

The expected signings of De Ligt and Mazraoui would take the number of United signings under Ten Hag who were born or played in the Netherlands up to 11.

Ten Hag wanted to sign De Ligt in his first summer as United manager but the Netherlands international joined Bayern from Juventus.

De Ligt and Mazraoui should be registered in time to be available for selection in United’s opening Premier League fixture against Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday night.

The arrival of the defenders is set to coincide with the departure of right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who could pocket a £5.6m pay-off from United as he closes in on a move to West Ham United.

Wan-Bissaka has entered the final year of his United contract and the club are prepared to recompense the 26-year-old to make up for the shortfall in his salary at West Ham.

United signed Wan-Bissaka in a £50m deal from Crystal Palace in 2019 after scouting 804 right backs. If Wan-Bissaka’s fee to join West Ham rises to £20m then United will record a £10m profit due to amortisation, which is the cost of a player’s fee spread over the length of their time at the club.
