Ciara is elated for husband Russell Wilson’s next chapter as the Steelers’ starting quarterback.
Shortly after head coach Mike Tomlin announced Wednesday that the nine-time Pro Bowler would be QB1 in Pittsburgh following an offseason battle with Justin Fields, Wilson expressed gratitude in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“Blessed & Full of Gratitude. Honored to Lead this special group of men,” Wilson captioned a photo of himself in a huddle with his Steelers teammates.

Wilson, 35, is in his first season in Pittsburgh after agreeing to a one-year deal in March following his breakup with the Broncos.
The ex-Seahawks star arrived in Denver in 2022 with much fanfare but the union fizzled out after just two seasons.
The Broncos benched Wilson for the final two games of the 2023 season before releasing him, eating $85 million in dead cap money.

Wilson said Wednesday he is “super excited” about the opportunity.
“I came here to help us win. That’s the focus. And I think the best part is how hard we’ve all worked every day from all the way from OTAs to Latrobe. And obviously, we’ve got a great season ahead of us, and we’re excited about it,” he said, according to the Steelers’ official website.
Wilson threw for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 15 games for Denver last season.

Meanwhile, Fields tossed 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while throwing for 2,562 yards in 13 appearances in 2023.
When discussing Fields, 25, Tomlin lauded the former Bears quarterback’s “freaky” athleticism.
“I’ve seen the highlights and things of that nature, but being an AFC coach, you don’t always get a chance to feel it or really pay attention to it. To see some of the things he’s capable of doing on the football field is really exciting,” Tomlin said.
The coach also said to “speculate away” in regard to how the Steelers can potentially use Fields.
The 11th overall pick by the Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft, Fields spent three seasons in Chicago before being traded to Pittsburgh in March.
