Sami Zayn returns in search of a title opportunity against Gunther

Gunther shows up to Monday Night RAW still as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. “I defeated one of the best in history, and yes, I said personal things about Randy Orton so I could celebrate in Berlin and I defeated one of his best versions to mark another chapter as World Heavyweight Champion ,” Gunther says before being interrupted by the return of SAMI ZAYN .

The Canadian finds it amusing to hear Gunther talk about legacy. He’s been thinking about where his career is going and when the Intercontinental Championship is mentioned, legends like ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, Stone Cold, Triple H, Shawn Michaels or his hero, Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart are mentioned ; all of them, they were champions before and used the Intercontinental Title as a stepping stone to a World Championship. That’s what Gunther did. That’s what Sami Zayn wants to do: win the title that has eluded him throughout his career, win the World Heavyweight Championship.

Gunther agrees with Sami, all of those names, including himself, used the Intercontinental Title as a boost to win the World Title. But Sami Zayn, instead of gaining momentum, has taken a step down; the Canadian is not on the list of those big names. Gunther acknowledges Sami Zayn’s resilience because he’s here now challenging him for the World Heavyweight Title, but if he really wants the gold, more than anything else in the world, the answer is NO. “The Ring General” throws down the microphone and walks out of the ring.

Zayn stops Gunther because he’s been around his whole career and he’s not a guy who backs down from a challenge. Sami thinks that despite having a long list of victims, Gunther knows that he’s the only person who’s ever beaten him in the center of the ring. Gunther turns around to hear Sami Zayn saying that he’ll chase him down until he becomes World Heavyweight Champion.
