Cody Rhodes to face Solo Sikoa in a Steel Cage at WWE SmackDown

Cody Rhodes prepares to defend the WWE Undisputed Championship against Solo Sikoa in a Steel Cage Match during WWE SmackDown (September 13, 2024).

The first chapter between the two competitors took place under the ‘Rules of Bloodline’ and had all the chaos possible in the main event of WWE SummerSlam 2024. Everything was defined when Roman Reigns made his long-awaited return to ruin the fight for Solo Sikoa, who, for weeks, threatened to destroy his cousin if he dared to show his face after staining his family’s name by falling at WrestleMania XL against Cody Rhodes.

“The new Tribal Chief” forgot about the title orbit while he was in charge of getting “The OTC” out of the way alongside Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Jacob Fatu. Due to the savage attack of The Bloodline, and especially the “Samoan Wolf”, Roman Reigns was unable to recover the Ula Fala and was taken out of circulation. With the path clear, Solo Sikoa focused on Cody Rhodes-Kevin Owens , as he would be waiting for whoever was champion after WWE Bash In Berlin 2024 .

During WWE SmackDown ( September 6, 2024 ), and after returning with the gold still in his possession, Cody Rhodes demanded the presence of Solo Sikoa , who appeared accompanied by The Bloodline. “The American Nightmare” tried to create a conflict within the faction, as he recognized Jacob Fatu ‘s work over that of Solo Sikoa, but the former rejected the title opportunity due to his devotion to his Tribal Chief.

There was nothing left to do but to agree on a new Cody Rhodes vs Solo Sikoa for the WWE Championship. But this time, by decision of Nick Aldis, and to avoid The Bloodline’s numbers game, both will face each other in a Steel Cage Match . This is what the champion said about this fight, in a segment of SmackDown LowDown :

“I don’t know what I was thinking challenging any of them to a match because the truth is, if you’re fighting any member of The Bloodline, you’re fighting all of them. So there’s nothing more perfect for this close match than a steel cage. I’d be a fool to say I’m not worried, if I didn’t feel a little bit of trepidation or fear about it [being locked in one-on-one with Sikoa]. But I’ve been in a steel cage plenty of times and Solo’s never been in one. The Bloodline is all about the Ula Fala, but WWE is all about the Undisputed Championship. If Solo Sikoa is ‘Tribal Chief’ enough to beat me, I’ll stand in that ring in front of the entire world and acknowledge it.”

Friday Night SmackDown  September 13, 2024 will take place at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. The event will be broadcast live on USA Network in the United States and on Fox Sports 2 in Mexico to mark the premiere of the 26th season in the history of the blue brand. Remember that on  Mundo Lucha  you can follow the coverage of the event completely live.
