Man United Eye £16m Bargain Deal as Rashford’s Future Faces Key Deadline

Manchester United had a busy summer transfer window but could have been more active in the market.

That is because several players who could have moved elsewhere stayed at Old Trafford. Antony is still on the squad despite barely playing so far this season, and the same is true of Victor Lindelof, albeit his injury has affected his availability to date.

Christian Eriksen also attracted interest and, like Lindelof, is out of contract this summer. Amad, Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton, and Harry Maguire are also in this situation, though United retains options to extend the latter and the former’s deals by an additional year.

Contrastingly, only this summer’s signings have longer on their contracts than Marcus Rashford, but that does not mean he will still be at United when that deal expires in the summer of 2028. With that in mind, the Manchester Evening News takes a closer look at the latest transfer headlines around Old Trafford.

Rashford decision deadline set

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly revived their interest in Rashford after holding talks with the forward earlier this year. TEAMtalk acknowledges that the reasons a move did not materialise in the summer remain: United’s reluctance to sell and the reputed £25million difference in valuations between the two clubs.

United considering buying back defender

Record in Portugal reports that United are contemplating activating the £16.6million buyback clause they included when sending Alvaro Fernandez Carreras to Benfica earlier this year. Barcelona, Liverpool and Real Madrid are reputedly interested in the full-back, with the player seemingly favouring the latter, but they would have to pay his £41.6million buyout.
