Killer Whales Can Mimicking Human Speech

Hats off to “Generations of Sound” by Megan Hockin-Bennet for being chosen as an Official Selection at Love Nature Bite-Size Showcase 2021 ????

For the past eleven summers, filmmaker Megan Hockin-Bennet has spent her time with Orcalab recording unique audio and visual content of orca and humpback whales, for use in research and filmmaking outreach projects. At Orcalab, Helena Symonds has been listening to the sounds of Orca for four decades. “Generations of Sound” is a short exploration into Helena’s journey of learning about the matriarchal society of Orcas, their complex dialects, and the impact listening underwater can have on the human soul.
