The month of November saw Barcelona being dealt with a major blow as key midfielder Gavi suffered an ACL rupture while on national team duty with Spain.
The 19-year-old sensation had not only torn his cruciate ligament but also sustained damage to the meniscus, leading to potential complications with his recovery.
Following Gavi’s surgery, it was speculated that the midfield prodigy could miss the start of the pre-season before the start of the new campaign.
Recovery going well
However, as per the latest update from Ferran Correas of SPORT, Gavi’s recovery is going very well and in fact, things are progressing much better than expected.
The youngster is working very hard behind the scenes to cut down his recovery timeline. It’s a slow-burning recovery, without setting himself any time targets. But he is facing it with professionalism and enthusiasm to return as soon as possible.
While Gavi is receiving constant support from Barcelona and their medical department, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is also closely monitoring the player and on several occasions has sent ’emissaries’ to accompany and support him.
In a month or so, the La Masia graduate is expected to take a step forward in his recovery plan and start doing exercises of a greater intensity and load. In principle, all signs point towards him being fine in June.
Despite that, though, the RFEF has made it clear that Gavi will not be called up by Spain for the UEFA Euro 2024 or the Paris Olympics.
The goal is for him to arrive at 100% for the pre-season with Barcelona.
