Actually, this fluffy little dragon is a bird.

So magical ✨🐉

There are wonderful animals in all kinds of vivid hues who appear so lovely in a lot of our favorite fantasy movies, and it’s hard not to wish they were real.

Great eared nightjars, on the other hand, appear to be right out of a fantasy film, and fortunately for us, they are really real.

Great eared nightjars may be found in Southeast Asia’s tropical woods, and because they are nocturnal, they traverse the woodlands at night. Aside from their appearance, they are distinctive in that they build their nests on the forest floor, and their young are well-hidden by the leaves.

These birds, for whatever reason, don’t resemble birds at all. They resemble fluffy tiny dragons or creatures from the Harry Potter films more than anything else. In either case, they’re charming and wonderful to look at, and they surely contribute to bringing our favorite fantasy realms to life.

There are other nightjar species, but none are nearly as distinctive as these small dragons. The huge eared nightjar is a one-of-a-kind species.

So, if someone claims to have seen a dragon fly past while looking up in the sky, we shouldn’t dismiss them so quickly. It may have been one of these men who was spreading some magic.
