Prince Harry sent shockwaves across the world when he released his memoir Spare in 2023, and it appears Meghan Markle could one day do the same thing.
Although the Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥, 43, has not yet hinted that a memoir of her life and experience as a royal is in the works, experts believe it is possible she will eventually publish one.
This is because the Duchess previously revealed that she kept journals during her time as a senior working member of the Royal Family, which she found when the couple were packing up their Frogmore cottage in Windsor for the final time.
While a memoir by Meghan would sell well, this would depend on how “sensational” it was, one royal expert has claimed.
Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively told Express.co.uk: “In theory there is no reason why Meghan could not write a memoir. It would almost certainly sell well, probably very well, but as she knows perfectly well, that would depend on how sensational it was.”
Mr Fitzwilliams also believes that a memoir is not yet on the cards as a result of the health battles the King and Princess Kate have been facing, with Prince Harry, 40, and his wife stepping carefully to make sure they don’t make matters worse during this time.
Ongoing visa rows about Prince Harry and whether he declared his previous drug use on his application may also have kept the couple quiet according to Mr Fitzwilliams, with President-elect Donald Trump revealing that he would take “appropriate action” against the prince if he had not been truthful about his past on his application.
Discussing the reasons why Meghan may be holding off from releasing a memoir, Mr Fitzwilliams said: “At present, with two senior royals ill, she would appear uncaring and callous, if she launched further attacks on or caused embarrassment to the royal family.
“It is also unclear how much she would want to reveal about her own family, she is, bar her mother Doria, estranged from all of them.
“There is also a fear that Donald Trump, especially if he felt provoked in any way, might seek to open the investigation as to whether Harry declared the drug taking he discussed so openly in Spare and when promoting the memoir on his visa application.
“The bolthole the Sus𝑠e𝑥es reportedly have in Portugal might come in useful sooner than they supposed!”
