A well-liked John Wick fan theory is somewhat less likely to come true now that Winston has been confirmed to be a father figure and mentor in the upcoming Ballerina spinoff film. The first official John Wick film outside of the main series is the spinoff From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, which is scheduled for release on June 6, 2025. Ana de Armas will play the lead role of Eve Macarro, a ballerina undergoing assassination training in the Ruska Roma tradition. Len Wiseman of Live Free or Die Hard is directing it, and Shay Hatten of Rebel Moon is writing the script.
The Ballerina cast will introduce some new blood to the John Wick universe, like Gabriel Byrne and Norman Reedus. But it’s also bringing back some familiar faces from the previous John Wick movies. Anjelica Huston will have a major role as The Director, Keanu Reeves will have a cameo as Wick himself, and the late, great Lance Reddick will make his final on-screen appearance as Charon. Ian McShane will reprise his role as the proprietor of the New York Continental, Winston Scott, and it sounds like it’ll squash the best fan theory about his character’s backstory.
