The Housemaid, Sydney Sweeney’s film version of the best-selling thriller by Freida McFadden, has officially started production. Sweeney will play Millie Calloway, a young woman who accepts a seemingly simple housekeeping position with the Winchester Family only to discover sinister secrets within the household. Because of its complex psychological drama, the book became extremely popular and was a worthy contender for a movie adaptation.

The announcement was shared via Instagram under the film’s official account, @housemaidmovie. The cast, which includes Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, director Paul Feig, and Michele Morrone, used a popular BookTok review/audio from user @cedelove_, whose review of the novel helped catapult the novel to a viral success, with the cast seen on set reading the original novel instead of the script
