Charlotte Flair wins the Royal Rumble

The women’s Royal Rumble match opened the main card of tonight’s (Sat., Feb. 1, 2025) Royal Rumble premium live event at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, with Charlotte Flair’s return confirmed and some fun surprises expected.

The end result was the least surprising of all.

The match featured very little storytelling early on, save for some NXT entrances in Roxanne Perez and Lash Legend before Pure Fusion Collective’s entire squad got in and worked together. They did have Ivy Nile send the Intercontinental champion out to further their issue before Maxxine Dupri got her out to further theirs.

The U.S. Champion Chelsea Green was doing great until her Secret Hervice director Piper Niven accidentally sent her packing.

One of the big surprises we knew was coming, Jordynne Grace, came in at 19 and instantly did something impressive, with a death valley driver on Niven. She also embraced Naomi, leading to some discord between the tag team champ and her partner, Bianca Belair.

The first big return came at number 21 when Alexa Bliss made her long awaited return to action, having been out for two years. She looked fantastic right away too, like she wasn’t out having and raising a small child for all this time. It’s worth noting she was out with her doll, so that gimmick is still here.

Another NXT star made an appearance in Stephanie Vaquer, who got a great response. She was followed up by a Legend in Trish Stratus, with another great response. In fact, fans gave them a “this is awesome” chant with the ring stacked with talent at that point.

When Raquel Rodriguez got in, she started wreaking havoc alongside her partner, Morgan.

The favorite, Charlotte Flair, got the number 27 spot and came in hot, scoring two quick eliminations. NXT Women’s Champion Giulia got a spot in the match, and a quick chance to showcase what she can do on a big stage.

The final surprise came in the number 30 spot, with Nikki Bella making her return as she’s been teasing of late.

They did a big spot where everyone something like five or six wrestlers went on the apron and Jax knocked them all out at once. It was a rush to the finish from there, with a sprint that saw Flair come out ahead by tossing Jax while she was trying to get Perez out and then capitalizing on the NXT star being out on the apron with a big boot.

Flair is headed to WrestleMania.
