The WWE cut down continues today (Feb. 8), as PWInsider is reporting they’ve confirmed that The OC’s Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have been released by the company.
The decorated tag team duo returned to WWE in 2022 after being among 2020’s pandemic releases. As they had been during their first run, and there days in New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Bullet Club Gallows and Anderson teamed with AJ Styles. With Styles working solo or out for much of last year, the pair started working NXT in addition to the main roster, but didn’t gain much traction there either. Their last television match was there in September, a loss to Hank Walker & Tank Ledger. Anderson is currently rehabbing from surgery and wasn’t expected back until after WrestleMania 41.
Gallows and Anderson twice won the Raw Tag titles during their initial 2016-2020 run with WWE. They held the IWGP and Impact/TNA Tag belts three-times each during their careers.
Fightful confirmed The OC’s exit, and added Giovanni Vinci’s name to the list. The writing seemed to be on the wall for Vinci when his teased solo run led to a pair of squashes on SmackDown last September that were never really followed up on. He wrestled on Speed the following month, and hadn’t been seen on-screen since. Prior to that, he’d been a member of Gunther’s Imperium with Ludwig Kaiser.
Anderson, Gallows & Vinci join a growing list of post-Royal Rumble WWE departures which, as of this writing includes Cedric Alexander, Sonya Deville, Paul Ellering, Akam & Rezar of AOP, Blair Davenport & Isla Dawn.
