Denver Broncos fans know all too well about Russell Wilson’s poor play during his time with the team.
It was an unfortunate situation with one of the better quarterbacks of the last decade, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
That doesn’t take away from what Wilson has done throughout his career, but his stint with the Broncos didn’t go as planned, and while it still impacts them, given his cap hit, the Broncos have finally found their franchise quarterback in Bo Nix and look to be moving in the right direction.
However, for Wilson, his past year with the Pittsburgh Steelers wasn’t perfect, either. He struggled towards the back end of the season, and as a free agent this offseason, that likely impacted his potential contract.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports predicted his deal, still coming in at $20 to $25 million AAV. He named the Las Vegas Raiders and others as potential options.
“His days of dominating the highlight reel as the dual-threat star of the Seattle Seahawks are long gone, but Wilson at least flashed some of his trademark deep-ball touch midway through 2024. By the end, of course, the sluggishness that marked his ill-fated Denver Broncos pitstop had reared its head again,” Benjamin wrote.
The Raiders would be an intriguing landing spot for the veteran due to his history with new Raiders head coach Pete Carroll.
Still, if the Raiders get an opportunity to draft Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, they’ll likely go with the younger option over paying Wilson $25 million a season.
