Coming off a disappointing 2024 season where the Colts fell way short of expectations, they need to make adjustments to the team to ensure that won’t be a theme again in 2025. To do so, the changes start at the quarterback position, and Wilson is the solution to all of the issues.
Richardson has immense potential, but at the same time, hasn’t been able to tap into that at the NFL level. While it isn’t used as heavily anymore either, Wilson still also has the ability to make plays outside the pocket and throw on the run accurately, which will help open the playbook. The move to sign Wilson is to have him be the mentor Richardson needs to learn from to truly be developed correctly, while positioning the Colts in the best position to take control of the AFC South in 2025.
