The real-life Wolf of Wall Street’s ex-wife has revealed the very frank advice she gave Margot Robbie after the actress voiced her horror at having to strip down for a nude scene while making a hit movie about the disgraced financier.
Nadine Macaluso, 56, who now works as a marriage counselor and family therapist in Florida, met Jordan Belfort, 61, when she was just 22 years old and working as a model.
The two soon became engulfed in a whirlwind romance, tying the knot in 1991 and welcoming two children together, before they ultimately divorced in 2005 after 14 years of marriage, six years after Jordan ended up in jail for financial crimes.
After they went their separate ways, Nadine accused the broker of physical and mental abuse, which she said was fueled by his rampant drug addiction and multiple infidelities.

Nadine and Jordan’s relationship – as well as Jordan’s illicit stock market scheme, which saw him steal nearly $200 million from investors – was portrayed in the wildly popular 2013 flick Wolf of Wall Street, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan and Margot as Nadine, who was renamed Naomi for the movie.
Now, the model-turned-therapist has spoken exclusively to DailyMail.com about the intimate conversation she had with Margot, 33, before filming kicked off.
She explained that the actress shared her terror over having to get naked on camera for the flick, but Nadine helped her use her fear to make her performance even stronger.
‘She was just lovely. She was sweet, and so young. She was only 22, which was the age I was [when I met Jordan],’ Nadine reflected on meeting Margot, recalling the fear that the actress expressed at the idea of stripping down for the film.
‘I took her to dinner and she said me, “Oh my God, I’m so afraid I gotta do a naked scene. I don’t want to be naked but it’s Martin Scorsese.”
‘And I said, “That right there, that fear of speaking your truth to more powerful men, that’s how I felt every day [while I was married to Jordan].”
‘I said, “If you could channel that, you’ll understand really what was happening inside of me.”‘
Margot previously spoke out about having to strip down for the movie, and she revealed that she did end up telling Martin about her disdain for taking her clothes off on camera.
Nadine told DailyMail.com, ‘I took her to dinner and she said me, “Oh my God, I’m so afraid I gotta do a naked scene. I don’t want to be naked but it’s Martin Scorsese [directing]”‘
But she said she told the young star, ‘That right there, that fear of speaking your truth to more powerful men, that’s how I felt every day’
Margot (seen in the flick) previously spoke out about having to strip down for the movie, and she revealed that Martin told her could wear a robe if she preferred
And she revealed that he offered she wear a robe during the scene instead – but in the end, she decided it would be better for the movie, as well as her character, if she was completely nude.
‘I think nudity for the sake of nudity is shameful. If they’ve put it in just so that a girl gets her top off, then that’s disgusting. And you can always tell,’ she said in 2014.
But in the end, she decided it would be better for the movie, as well as her character, if she was completely nude. She’s seen in the film
‘But I also think it’s disgusting when someone would have gotten naked in real life, and in the film they conveniently leave their bra on or hold up the bed sheet.
‘Seeing someone being choreographed into being covered up irritates me just as much.
‘The whole point of Naomi is that her body is her only form of currency in this world. So when Martin was trying to help me out and said in the scene where she seduces Jordan perhaps I could have a robe on, I said she wouldn’t. She has to be naked. She’s laying her cards on the table.’
While chatting with DailyMail.com, Nadine also dished on what it was like to have to relive the trauma that she endured during her relationship with Jordan thanks to the movie, as well as her initial reaction to finding out that her worst nightmares would be depicted on the big screen.
‘I was so nervous as to how I was going to be portrayed because I don’t think Martin Scorsese loves women,’ she shared. ‘I thought about how he sometimes portrays women.
Jordan (portrayed left in the movie by Leo and right in real life) spent 22 months in prison after it was revealed he had scammed more than 1,500 people through an stockbroker scheme in 1999

‘And I had no say or input. That’s a very crazy situation to be in – you’re going to get portrayed for the whole world to see, but you have no input on how they’re gonna do it.’
Nadine added that she did ‘a lot of therapy’ to prepare herself for it, and ultimately ‘surrendered.’
But there was one thing she held her ground on – she didn’t want her real name used in the movie – and it was something she stayed strong on despite Jordan trying to ‘convince her’ otherwise.
Earlier this month, she released a book entitled Run Like Hell: A Therapist’s Guide To Recognizing, Escaping, And Healing from Trauma Bonds
She shared: ‘I said, “I make no money. I have no creative input. This movie is not about my narrative. So just on principle. I’m not letting you use my name.”‘
Despite her nerves, Nadine recalled feeling relieved when she watched it for the first time.
‘It’s maybe not exactly the way I would [tell the story], that wasn’t my narrative or the way I saw myself through that whole experience, but it was fine,’ she added. ‘I was totally OK with it. It wasn’t that bad.’
