In a recent report, Sport stated that Barcelona want to renew Marc Guiu’s contract for the long run. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are eager to tie the Spanish starlet down to a new, long-term deal.
Guiu’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football
Guiu has come through the youth ranks of the Spanish club and has already managed to break into Xavi’s first team. The Spanish prospect has made three senior appearances for Barca thus far, finding the back of the net once in the process across all competitions.
The 17-year-old has caught the eye with his performances in the final third. However, he is quite inexperienced and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. His current deal at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, it makes sense for Barcelona head coach Xavi to try and tie him down to a new, long-term contract soon.
The Catalan outfit simply cannot afford to lose a player of Guiu’s potential as he could go on to become a regular starter in La Liga over the next few years.

Barcelona Want To Renew Guiu’s Contract: Good Move For Both Parties?
Guiu can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in on-target when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. The Barcelona whizkid has got the vision to orchestrate a few decent chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. However, at 17, the Spanish striker is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in top-flight football.
Still, there is no denying that Guiu has the potential to become a future star at the Nou Camp as long as he continues to improve with each season. However, Xavi would have to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of him.
Guiu is destined to succeed Robert Lewandowski as Barcelona‘s primary centre-forward over the next decade. Hence, it is only logical for the Catalan club to try and secure his long-term future by offering him a fresh, long-term contract as it will be a good move for both parties.
