Taylor Swift is definitely one of the biggest performers in this era and many in the ASEAN region who grew up with her music were waiting patiently for her to have a tour here.

When it was announced that Singapore was her only stop in the region, many fans were heartbroken and demanded to know why. No answer was given until now.

Recently, the Thai Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, revealed that Singapore had a deal with the superstar saying that she is only allowed to perform in Singapore and not anywhere else in the ASEAN region.

According to Thai Enquirer, the PM said that he had spoken to the organiser of the concert and was told that for each show Taylor Swift has in the country, they will be investing 100 million baht (RM13,373,885) to support her show.

In the end, there were 6 shows in Singapore and they have all been sold out, Srettha Thavisin added,

“Even though we would have to subsidise at least 500 million baht, it would be worth it,” he stated.

Well, this is certainly a revelation. Although we have been through this before, events such as these concerts do drive up tourism and bring money into the country.
