Ariana Grande’s ‘Nonna’, 98, sets Billboard record with track on Hot 100.

Ariana Grande‘s grandmother, 98, has become the oldest person to land on the Billboard Hot 100 following the release of her new collaboration with her granddaughter.

Their new song, Ordinary Things, has just landed on the chart at #55, according to Billboard. Marjorie is credited in the track as a featured artist and appears at the end of the song.

In the dreamy song, she speaks to Ariana and offers relationship wisdom as she recalls her marriage to late husband Frank: ‘Never go to bed without kissin’ goodnight,’ she explains. ‘That’s the worst thing to do; don’t ever, ever do that. And if you don’t feel comfortable doing it, you’re in the wrong place – get out.’

The late songwriter Fred Stobaugh who was the last artist to hold the record Marjorie currently holds. He was 96 when his track Oh Sweet Lorraine landed on the Hot 100 at number 42 in 2013, according to Billboard.

Tony Bennett, who passed last year at 96, currently stands as the third eldest artist to have landed on the list.

Back in October of last year, Ariana joined forces with her brother Frankie Grande to celebrate Nonna’s 98th birthday.

In 2018, the songstress was awarded the Woman of the Year Award at Billboard’s Women in Music event, and she later revealed that she and her grandmother had gotten matching tattoos to celebrate the honor.

She revealed on social media at the time that Nonna had gotten ‘Ciccio’ inked on her left ring finger as a tribute to her late husband Frank Grande, while the pop star had a moon and stars inked on the top of her left hand.

The Thank U, Next singer even brought along her grandmother to the 2014 MTV VMAs as her plus one.

It comes as Ariana’s seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, reached the coveted number one spot on the Billboard 200.

Of the 227,000 equivalent album units, 77,000 of them mark actual sales, 148,000 streaming equivalent units, and 2,000 track sale equivalents, which are composed of people buying one or more songs from the new batch of tunes, but not the whole set.

With the distinction of having the largest week of 2024 so far, Eternal Sunshine surpassed the debut of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative side project, Vultures 1, which had earned 148,000 in the chart dated February 24.

Grande’s new release has also been a huge success on a number of platforms that includes Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, among many others.
