Fans think Hailey Bieber reignited rumors of a feud with Selena Gomez by sharing Beyoncé’s cover of “Jolene.”
The Rhode founder posted a screenshot of the song on her Instagram Story early Friday with the caption, “whew ” after Queen Bey released her new album, “Cowboy Carter.”
Originally performed by Dolly Parton, “Jolene” tells the story of a woman who flirted with someone else’s husband, so many social media users flocked to X to speculate that Bieber was subtly jabbing Gomez, who used to date her husband, Justin Bieber.
Fans think Hailey Bieber reignited her rumored feud with Selena Gomez.
The Rhode founder shared that she was listening to Beyoncé’s “Jolene,” which is about a woman flirting with someone else’s husband.
Many assumed Bieber was shading Gomez, who previously dated Justin Bieber.
“hailey bieber’s obsession with selena gomez needs to be studied…,” one user wrote.
“This woman is so obsessed,” another agreed. “She is this way just because doesnt [sic] have confidence with herself The karma for hailey will bite harder.”
“It’s not even just Selena at this point,” a third netizen posted. “She think [sic] everybody wants her man.”
The former couple were in an on-off relationship for eight years.
Others defended the model, saying she was just enjoying Beyoncé’s new album.
Others, however, were quick to point out that Hailey, 27, was likely just enjoying one of the most highly anticipated tracks from the headline-making country album.
“So Hailey can’t listen to a song?” one fan questioned.
“well first, hailey is reposting a newly released song and if you instantly think selena feels hit then thats on you,” another added.
Hailey previously spoke out about the “dangerous” narrative that she and Gomez have been feuding.
She called the speculation “completely made-up and twisted.”
“thinking everything Hailey does is Selena shade is truly incredible,” one more user observed.
Although rumors of beef between the “Only Murders in the Building” star, 31, and Hailey have spanned years, the model finally slammed the “dangerous” narrative fans created last summer.
“I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez. This is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women,” she said during an appearance on Bloomberg’s “The Circuit with Emily Chang” in July 2023.
The “Only Murders in the Building” star had to condemn her fans when they started sending death threats to Hailey.
The Biebers married in September 2018.
“It’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous.”
She explained, “I’m not OK with the kind of division that it caused. I don’t like this whole idea of ‘team this person’ and ‘team that person’ — I’m just not about that.”
They tied the knot for a second time in September 2019 in a lavish ceremony in South Carolina.
Gomez dated Justin, 30, on and off for eight years before breaking up for good in 2018. Mere months later, he and Hailey got engaged.
The quick turnaround prompted Gomez’s diehard fans to send death threats to Hailey, which the “Lose You to Love Me” singer had to condemn publicly.
The Biebers married at a New York courthouse in September 2018 and tied the knot for a second time in a lavish ceremony in South Carolina one year later.
