Manchester United might use the same Rasmus Hojlund transfer ploy, but there will still be “competition.”

Manchester United will reportedly face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool if they are to sign Atalanta’s Europa League hero Ademola Lookman.

United are one of several Premier League sides being linked with a move for the former Everton and Fulham forward, who has reignited his career since moving to Serie A in 2022.

The 26-year-old earned plaudits for his stunning hat-trick in last month’s Europa League final in Dublin, as Atalanta became the first and only side to defeat Bundesliga champions in the 2023/24 season.

As a result, United have been linked with a summer move for Lookman, who is also said to be attracting interest from the Reds’ Premier League rivals Liverpool and Chelsea. According to Calcio Mercato, United are willing to make an offer close to Atalanta’s £50m asking price.

However, it is claimed that Lookman will only be allowed to depart the Gewiss Stadium if Atalanta can retain the services of midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool. United, though, could be boosted by the fact that they were able to strike a deal with the Serie A side for Rasmus Hojlund.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that United were holding talks with the representatives of Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee over a possible move to Old Trafford.
