‘I just want the blood’ – Dustin Poirier mocks Conor McGregor in social media rampage and teases fourth fight

Dustin Poirier has taken aim at Conor McGregor on social media again.

The pair have been long-term rivals having fought three times, including most recently in McGregor’s last UFC appearance where the Irishman broke his leg in a brutal 2021 defeat.

Poirier didn’t hold back when trolling the Irishman

Poirier has got the better of McGregor in two out of their three octagon episodes, and fans still clamour for a fourth showdown between the pair.

‘The Diamond’ first mocked his rival over the results, tweeting: “Hey @TheNotoriousMMA it felt so nice, I did it twice ya bumskie.”

He continued his assault by posting a picture of McGregor knocked out from their January 2021 second meeting, with the caption: #SleepyMac.”

A fan then questioned whether the tweet insinuated they would fight again, to which he responded: “I’m cool I don’t need the cash I just want the blood.”

Any fourth showdown would still represent a huge opportunity for Poirier, who has hinted he is coming to the end of his career in the UFC.

It would generate huge revenue and audience interest, despite the dominance of his previous two displays against McGregor.

The Irishman first beat him in their maiden encounter, stopping Poirier in the opening period in September 2014.

A sequel came seven years later, and Poirier replied with a stoppage of his own leaving his rival in a bad way in the second round.

Their trilogy ended in disaster for McGregor, and he is yet to compete since having faced a frustrating period since the injury.

He was set to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303, but was forced out of his comeback fight after breaking his toe.

Hope will be for UFC fans that he will be able to recover sufficiently to compete before the end of 2024.

And Poirier was surprisingly more complimentary and believes McGregor still has the hunger to make a successful return.

“So, he could be back quick or if he needs surgery, we’ll see,” he said.

“Just looking at his career and the things he’s accomplished, the man has a strong mindset.

“If he commits himself to being the best he can, if his body allows him to be the best he can I think he’s gonna come back strong.

“Do we see the vintage Conor McGregor? I’m not sure, but we’re going to see a very dangerous man who’s hungry for a win – and who needs a win, if he does come back.”
