‘Let’s run it’ – Jake Paul responds to Conor McGregor’s ‘little dweeb’ jibe ahead of Mike Perry fight

Jake Paul brutally hit back at Conor McGregor after responding to the UFC legend’s ‘little dweeb’ jibe.

McGregor, who has become a part-owner of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), talked up one of the organisation’s biggest stars Mike Perry, who is fighting YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul this Saturday.

“Look at what has happened to Michael Perry, one of our big stars here,” the UFC legend said at a BKFC press conference this week.

“The King of Violence he titles himself and he’s had such a rise in the sport and now he’s up against a little dweeb of a thing in a fight this weekend. We’re all rooting for him. This is the real thing.”

When Paul was asked about the comment made, the 27-year-old snapped back how he beat Nate Diaz, a UFC fighter who beat McGregor before, while also accusing the Irishman of taking class A drugs in an unsubstantiated claim.

“Conor McGregor can say what he wants, but he won’t fight me either,” Paul remarked.

“So once I knock out Mike Perry, Conor McGregor, let’s run it… but you won’t do it because you know what’s gonna happen.

“You know what I did to Nate Diaz, who you went toe-to-toe with. So Conor McGregor, lay off the cocaine, get in the gym and start winning fights… and then maybe we can have a conversation.”

Paul triumphed over Diaz in August 2023 via unanimous decision in a boxing fight, the first time the MMA icon had entered the ring.

It was also Paul’s first fight since losing to Tommy Fury earlier that year in February.

McGregor and Diaz met in the octagon twice in 2016 with a vicious war of words breaking out before the first clash in March 2016.

Diaz forced McGregor into submission with a rear-naked choke in the second round before ‘Notorious’ won the rematch via majority decision five months later in August.

Paul had frequently called out McGregor to meet him in the boxing ring over the years, but has usually been met with silence.

So when the Irishman made reference to Paul earlier this week, albeit without saying his name, it set tongues wagging over a potential fight in the future.

But first, Paul must fight Perry in Florida before a titanic clash against boxing Mike Tyson, which was delayed after the 58-year-old suffered a health scare.

The mega-fight was set to go ahead this weekend before ‘Iron Mike’ pulled out, with Perry replacing the former heavyweight champion.
