‘Stupid people’ – Oleksandr Usyk responds to claim he used PEDs during Tyson Fury undisputed win

Oleksandr Usyk was falsely accused of using PEDs from a bizarre snapshot during the Tyson Fury fight.

The Ukrainian star became undisputed heavyweight champion by beating Fury on points in May, but some fans believed they had spotted Usyk using an inhaler when he was in fact kissing his crucifix.

Use of an inhaler is illegal in boxing, as fighters are only allowed to use water and Vaseline during a fight, with energy gels even banned throughout the twelve rounds.

But Usyk has since hit back at the wild conspiracy theory, furiously denying use of what would be considered a performance-enhancing drug.

“Stupid people. Listen, I never used any substance. Never. I’m clean,” he told Boxing King Media.

“The cross, it’s my doping. My belief is my doping. Jesus, my family, my team, my country – this my doping.”

Several groups of fans had already come to defence of Usyk on social media, and dismissed the theory.

Footage had emerged of Usyk sat in his corner while putting an object to his mouth, which many claimed was either water or indeed his crucifix.

An inhaler is a device which is often used to treat asthma, and pumps medicine directly in the lungs to improve cardiovascular health.

But of course Usyk was simply the better fighter on the night, having even threatened to close the show with a stoppage in a ninth-round onslaught.

Now the pair will meet in a December 21 rematch, with Fury looking to secure revenge in immediate fashion.

The undisputed crown will not be on the line, with Usyk forced to vacate his IBF title which has since been awarded to Daniel Dubois.

Despite being widely considered second best, Fury believes he had his way with Usyk and expects to be able to go one better in the Middle East.

Fury said on his Furocity YouTube Channel: “I’ve watched the fight back lots of times and still got the same answer – I thought I won the fight.

“Usyk knows he didn’t beat me. I thought I boxed the head right off him for most of the rounds.

“It was actually a lot easier than I thought it’d be, the Usyk fight. “My problem in that fight was I probably had too much fun. It was probably too easy.

“It was like I was in there with a local amateur boxer. I was enjoying it too much, messing around and paid the ultimate price in round nine.

“But I’m confident and looking forward to the challenge. I hear he’s got a broken jaw and a broken eye socket, so get yourself well and I’ll see you in December.”
