Mike Perry accuses Conor McGregor of trying to stay relevant in response to being ‘fired’ from job after Jake Paul defeat

Mike Perry has brushed off Conor McGregor’s claims that he is fired from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC).

He has since built up an unblemished 5-0 record with the organisation and has quickly established himself as one of the sport’s biggest stars.

However, following Perry’s sixth-round stoppage defeat in gloved boxing against Jake Paul last weekend, McGregor – who recently became a co-owner of BKFC – took to X to tweet: “Hey Mike, you’re released and you can go and compete in your smelly dirty boxing championship thing, the smell of it, good luck.

“You’re fired. @BareKnuckleFC. Dirty boxing championship With MMA sparring gloves? Lol. Enjoy that, lad, smell ya later.”

On Thursday, Perry joined Paul on his podcast to talk about their fight.

Early on in the episode, ‘The Problem Child’ asked if McGregor had actually fired Perry.

To which the bare-knuckle boxing star responded: “I think he just does that. He tweets and he gets people to attach to something.

“He knows that we had that moment in history and he knows people were talking about it.

“And he’s like, ‘Let me say something about it and talk s*** about it and be my normal whitty self’.

“And he said something that got people to tune into it and he’s like, ‘Oh now Mike is released from bare-knuckle’, but let’s be honest everybody wants to see me fight bare-knuckle again.”

This comes after Paul offered Perry a job at his sportsbook company Betr following McGregor’s tweet.

Perry’s loss led to McGregor claiming that he was fired from BKFCCredit: BKFC

“Mike Perry, as you got fired by Conor McGregor from BKFC, we will hire you at Betr into a partnership and give you some sort of role,” he said on the BS W/Jake Paul podcast.

“We’ll figure out what that’s going to be. Betr has a job for you, Mike Perry.

“We’re just giving him another stream of income. He can keep fighting.

“We can maybe start a podcast with him or something; we’ll figure it out.”

BKFC are yet to officially announce whether Perry will remain on their roster or not.

However, it seems unlikely he will be let go considering he only just signed a new multi-fight deal last year.
