Cody Rhodes defeats Solo Sikoa after Roman Reigns returns

Roman Reigns returned for Solo Sikoa at WWE SummerSlam 2024 to cost him the Bloodline Rules Match against Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Championship. THE ORIGINAL TRIBAL CHIEF IS BACK.

Cody Rhodes put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line in a Bloodline Rules Match against Solo Sikoa during a WWE SummerSlam 2024 that concluded with the return of Roman Reigns .

Only Sikoa took command of The Bloodline to renew it from the roots in all the months that Roman Reigns was absent, integrating Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Jacob Fatu to proclaim himself as “the new Tribal Chief”, repeatedly challenging his cousin to appear to try to prevent him from restoring his family’s honor. Once the renewed Bloodline expanded its domain, Solo set out to regain the gold: Tonga & Fatu won the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown ( August 2, 2024 ) and not last night, he sought to defeat Cody Rhodes to regain the WWE Championship.

Cody Rhodes vs Solo Sikoa

Cody Rhodes tries to take down Solo Sikoa , but the latter stands stoically in the center of the ring to show strength and ends up knocking down his rival. Cody tried to recover, but Solo knocked him down with a Uranage; he got a two count. Sikoa kept control and knocked the champion down with a Samoan Drop; another cover that didn’t make any progress. The challenger left his opponent hanging in the corner, allowing him to attack with a Diving Headbutt a couple of times. Sikoa continued to torture the champion. Cody Rhodes avoided the third impact to finish climbing the corner and launched himself with a Crossbody on Sikoa. “The American Nightmare” gained time to recover, but Solo had gas in the tank to attack with a Bossman Slam; he got a two count.

Cody Rhodes stops Solo Sikoa from diving out of the corner and takes him down with a Superplex. They exchange blows once they get to their feet. Sikoa blocks a Cody Cutter, but can’t do the same with a Cross Rhodes. Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa appear! The champion is attacked to prevent him from covering Sikoa. The Bloodline punishes Cody with a numbers advantage to finish him off with a Magic Killer; Solo covers, but the count stays at two. Chaos invades SummerSlam: Cleveland due to Bloodline Rules. KEVIN OWENS RESURFACES! Kevin Owens dives against Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa, but the advantage remains with The Bloodline.

RANDY ORTON ALSO RESURFACES! Orton attacks Tonga outside the ring and connects an “RKO” on Loa . “Stunner” on Tonga . Orton & Owens team up to attack Sikoa and leave him at the mercy of a “Cross Rhodes”, but incredibly, Sikoa shakes off the cover to stay alive. Randy & Kevin exit the scene attacking Tonga & Loa in the crowd. Cody Rhodes has a new lease on life and arms himself with the steel steps to attack Solo on a couple of occasions. Even though Rhodes regains the advantage, Sikoa avoids a third blow to connect a “Spear”; the steps go flying, but Solo can’t get the victory.

Solo leaves Cody leaning on the steps, but misses a «Hip Attack» and crashes headlong into the steel. Cody attacks Solo with two «Cross Rhodes», but his offense is interrupted by a Jacob Fatu who attacks him with a «Whisper in The Wind»! «The Lone Wolf» is here to help his «Tribal Chief» and connects a «Moonsault» on Rhodes, but Sikoa’s cover does not reach three. Jacob Fatu continues the attack against Cody and leaves him on the commentary table to attack him with a brutal «Samoan Splash». Despite the violent attack, Solo is not able to achieve victory despite repeating a «Samoan Splash» on his return to the ring. Fatu cannot continue because he hurts his ankle.
