Conor McGregor blasts “cornflake” Canelo Alvarez for asking $200 million to fight David Benavidez: “Sheik Turki was right moving on”

Conor McGregor has not returned to the octagon since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 over three years ago. While the former double champ has remained inactive, he has maintained his presence in the combat sports world. ‘The Notorious’ recently took to X to call out Canelo Alvarez for his $200 million demand to fight David Benavidez.

Michael Benson of talkSPORT shared comments made by the four-division boxing champion, tweeting:

“Canelo Alvarez asked why he’s demanding $200million to fight David Benavidez: “Obviously he’s a risk, he’s a great fighter. Plus he brings to the ring on fight night 25lbs more than me. It’s a risk but I don’t care. If the money’s right it can be tomorrow.” [@SwaysUniverse]”

Quoting Benson’s tweet, McGregor claimed Alvarez is not a draw and stated:

“Canelo is a cornflake. He has about 300k buys in him. He does not generate nothing near what he seeks to be paid. UFC NOCHE is going to run them from the strip. Sheik Turki was right moving on. CANELO DOESN’T SELL.”

Turki Alalshikh, who McGregor referenced, recently revealed that he is no longer interested in a bout including Alvarez. While fans have clamored for a bout between the future International Boxing Hall of Famer and Benavidez, the former has remained adamant that he will need a guaranteed purse of $200 million to make the fight happen. He has reportedly been offered a $50 million guaranteed purse.
