Canelo Alvarez claps back after Conor McGregor’s “doesn’t sell” jibe: “He knows he’s my son”

While Conor McGregor has not competed in more than three years, he has maintained a strong presence in the combat sports world. The former double champ recently called out Canelo Alvarez for demanding $200 million to fight David Benavidez and fighting in Las Vegas on the same night as UFC 306, which will mark the promotion’s first event at the Las Vegas Sphere.

‘The Notorious’ took to X in a since-deleted tweet, stating:

“Canelo is a cornflake. He has about 300k buys in him. He does not generate nothing near what he seeks to be paid. UFC NOCHE is going to run them from the strip. Sheik Turki was right moving on. CANELO DOESN’T SELL.”

Alvarez was asked about McGregor’s comments, responding:

“What’s happening is that he’s helping Dana White to sell for the UFC. That’s why he’s saying that, but he knows he’s my son.”

Turki Alalshikh, who was mentioned by McGregor, recently claimed he is no longer interested in putting together a fight involving Alvarez. The four-division champion has maintained his stance that he will need a guaranteed purse of $200 million to face Benavidez. He has reportedly been offered a guarantee of $50 million.
