Adrien Rabiot has already suggested that he would be open to joining Manchester United. The 29-year-old midfielder continues to be heavily linked with a move to the Premier League following the expiration of his contract at Juventus earlier this summer.

He featured 31 times in the Serie A last term, scoring five goals and providing three assists. Playing a key role in Massimiliano Allegri’s side, Rabiot helped the Old Lady finish third and secure Champions League qualification.

At the end of the season, Juventus appointed Thiago Motta as the club’s new head coach. With the Italian giants eager to undergo a rebuild, having not won the Scudetto in four-years, Rabiot was one of several players to be offloaded.

Despite being let go in July, the France international has struggled to find a new club. Until now. According to Dutch outlet TransferWatch, United are considering the signing of Rabiot on a free transfer, with Christian Eriksen facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford.

The report states that Ajax have been in ‘frequent contact’ with the 32-year-old’s entourage this summer as the Dutch giants look to bolster their midfield. Eriksen sees his contract with the Red Devils expire at the end of the season, but reports in the Netherlands suggest that his deal could be terminated.

TransferWatch add that United are currently demanding a fee for his signature, which makes a transfer ‘financially complex’ for Ajax. In the meantime, Rabiot has reportedly reemerged as a target for Erik ten Hag.

During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the former Juventus ace was quizzed on his brief spell in the Manchester City youth setup in 2008. As quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Rabiot said: “It was very good experience.

“I didn’t do a whole season, though. Everything went well while I was there. I really liked the atmosphere. It’s really something that is only in England. It’s different from France and Italy. I have always said that I’d like to play in England in my career. I still have that desire. I’d like to evolve in the Premier League.”

Then, on the Premier League, he added: “I haven’t got a Premier League team in mind right now. I haven’t chosen a team or anything. It’s a general thing. It’s the league, it’s the level of play that’s going on, that’s what attracts me most. It corresponds to my qualities.”

Rabiot is still yet to achieve his dream of, one day, playing in the Premier League, though he continues to be heavily linked with a move to United.
