‘So smooth’ – Conor McGregor wows fans as he releases footage of first sparring session since Michael Chandler postponement

Conor McGregor has released footage of his first sparring session since the postponement of his fight with Michael Chandler.

McGregor was initially slated to face Chandler on June 29 at UFC 303 in a welterweight main event scrap.

However, the fight has been postponed until further notice after McGregor was forced out of the contest with a broken toe.

Both athletes have been pushing for their clash to be rebooked for December.

But UFC president Dana White insists McGregor won’t return to competition until 2025.

The expectation is that they will now compete in January with fights in Las Vegas and California being floated around.

‘Notorious’ is making sure he is firing on all cylinders early doors and has released four ten-second clips of him going to work on a sparring partner.

In one clip, McGregor is seen landing a perfectly timed left straight that sends his gym mate hurtling backwards while he can also be seen stuffing a takedown and landing ground and pound.

Fans were thoroughly impressed by McGregor’s display and flooded to the comment section to heap praise on the Irishman.

One supporter wrote: “Looks like Conor is ready.”

Another tweeted: “So smooth with it.”

A third posted: “Actually looking great. Lovely control and shots in the clinch.”

Meanwhile, a fourth remarked: “S*** that left hand is dangerous.”

And somebody else commented: “He is so back!”

McGregor hasn’t competed since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 but looks very sharp in his sparring footage.

The 36-year-old has two fights remaining on his UFC deal.

Once his contract is up, McGregor has expressed interest in dipping his toe into bare-knuckle boxing.

McGregor is the co-owner of American bare-knuckle boxing outfit BKFC and insists he is a ‘player-manager’.

Speaking at the launch press conference for BKFC Spain in July, he said: “For me, I’ve got a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract.

“But for sure we have three lightweights up here and I have my eye on all of this.

“I’m not here up here just as a knower, player-manager I’d title myself on this.”
