Meghan Markle’s best friend has issued a public message to the duchess after she stepped out on a red carpet alone on Saturday.
The Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥, 43, attended a gala event for the LA Children’s Hospital on Saturday night, however her husband Prince Harry was nowhere to be seen.
Since the event, Meghan’s close friend Kelly McKee Zajfen thanked the duchess for turning up in honour of the hospital, which has cared for Kelly’s daughter Lily, who has had a heart condition since the age of two.
Kelly, who lost her son Georgie, nine, to a viral infection in 2022, has publicly acknowledged Meghan’s support multiple times in the past, showing just how close their friendship is.
This includes the time Harry and Meghan made a significant donation to a GoFundMe set up by Kelly after her son’s sudden and unexpected death.
In a post on Instagram on Sunday, Kelly said Meghan is “truly inspiring”. She wrote: “Oh what a night!!
“My deepest gratitude to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for the extraordinary care they give to our daughter Lily. Our journey began when she was just two and a half, and from that day forward, we’ve experienced nothing but kindness, hope, care, and unmatched expertise.
“Our team at Children’s has given us strength and hope during the most challenging moments and their commitment to Lily’s care has made all the difference to our family.
“I was also beyond grateful to share in this beautiful evening with one of my closest friends. Meg, your commitment to supporting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and community is truly inspiring. I’m so grateful to have you by my side.”
The friends were pictured together on the red carpet at the start of the event as they were seen grasping onto each other’s hands.
An expert has since said that Meghan appeared “lost” without Harry and could have been leaning on her friend for support. Judi James told FEMAIL: “For a confident woman who is used to cameras and red carpets she acts grateful to see and join her friend here.
“The body language ritual that she follows seems to be deliberate signalling of her current state as Harry is off on his solo tour.
“Meghan performs signals of coyness and even shyness plus a subliminal desire to have someone take over the lead from Harry, as though she is somehow lost without him on the red carpet or wanting to suggest she is feeling more vulnerable and girlishly playful than usual.”
