Interaction between lion cubs and other lions in the pride ensures a bond with all the adults. On the N’waswitsontso road, south of Satara Rest Camp and close to Hamiltons Tented Camp in the Kruger National Park the affectionate moans and grooming of the lion cubs by the lionesses created a peaceful, tender moment. However one older female made it clear that she was not in an affectionate mood; she ignored the cubs, repelled them with sharp, short snarls and even slapped one cub in the face. With the tender moment being spoilt by the grumpy lioness the other females and cubs moved away leaving her behind.
