There may be a lot of new animatronic baddies in Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, which might increase the suspense and fear factor in the follow-up. The 2023 release of the horror movie, which was based on the popular video game series, was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from viewers and broke numerous box office records. The film centers on Mike Schmidt, who works as a night watchman at a shuttered pizzeria without realizing the animatronics are coming to life.

Despite the successes, many audience members and critics complained that the movie wasn’t scary enough for a horror movie. The PG-13 rating obviously limited the creative team, but they seem to have found a way around the issue moving forward. Josh Hutcherson, the star of the movie, promised a scarier tone and more animatronics in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, offering many reasons to get excited about the December 2025 film.
